Physical Education
The Lime Physical Education Curriculum is school specific.
As a Trust, we recognise that a high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities.
Our intention is to help all learners make progress and succeed in physical education.
The PE curriculum provides schools with structure to assess the progress made by learners across a range of sports.
Concepts are broken down into small steps allowing learners to build on previous knowledge.
Learners engage in competitive activities against themselves and others to apply their learning and increase cultural capital.
We recognise that opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Physical education is delivered as a subject in its own right from EYFS through to Year 6, but also through other vehicles such as school sport and physical activity.
After school clubs delivered by staff and sports coaches supplement the offer and provide opportunities for enhancement and progression.
In EYFS and Key Stage One, learners develop fundamental movement skills to extend their agility, balance and coordination.
They master basic movements then apply them in team games. Learners are also challenged to perform dances and gymnastic sequences.
As learners move into Key Stage Two, their application of the skills becomes more precise and refined through specific sports and games.
As learners progress through Key Stage Two, they receive swimming lessons to develop skills and confidence to reach age related expectations.
